SOLD... Thanks Tiena!

I set up this small still life in my studio and painted "Sliced Tomato" in the style of alla prima (all at once). I love capturing the beauty in everyday objects like these tomatoes. Everyday objects painted from life is the essence of the "Painting a Day" art movement that is gaining momentum in the art collecting market. I never tire painting this way... it really hons the eye and teaches me the value of SEEING vs LOOKING!

Have you ever took a walk in the woods? The peaceful beauty fills all the senses and is invigorating... it's as if God himself is telling us to slow down, take more walks, and enjoy His magnificent artwork.

This painting, on a Gessoed Panel with painted sides, is easily framed or displayed with a decorative easel.

All my paintings are signed originals using artist grade oils and archival surfaces. "Certificate of Authenticity" included.

Another still life painting from life... "Leaning Pear"... the first of a couple more pear paintings to come that I have done in the studio of late. There is something about the shape of a pair that has intrigued artists since the beginning and calls out to us... "paint me!" Everyday objects painted from life is the essence of the "Painting a Day" art movement that is gaining momentum in the art collecting market. These small paintings from life really help sharpen my eye and keep me painting on a daily basis.

The pristine beaches of Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks of North Carolina are unsurpassed in beauty in my humble opinion. The miles of natural shoreline beauty is awesome to behold... Creation at its best! As an artist... I have found many sites of inspiration on this small island. This spectacular view of the ocean through the sand dunes was one of those inspirational moments... "View from Ocracoke Island #2"... the result. If you ever get the chance to visit these beaches please do so.

I thoroughly enjoy painting every day objects around the house... I often use them when I paint from life for my "one a day" paintings. There's something about using an artistic license to make something we see every day (like a teapot) and transforming it into something fresh and new that appeals to the artist in me and hopefully communicates something to you, the viewer. Hope you enjoy this small painting I have titled... "Short and Stout".

Haybales I

"Haybales I"... 5x7" Oil on Panel, alla prima, 8-2007.
SOLD... Thanks Beatrice!

Freshly cut fields of hay scattered with rolled up haybales is one of my favorite scenes to paint. These fields are very common on Blue Ridge farms in the month of June. When I'm not painting them "en plein aire" I'm photographing them for my studio work. I never tire of their simplistic beauty.
